Every child’s first birthday is special, even if they don’t remember it! My son entered the world a little dramatically and had to spend some time in the NICU. So celebrating his birth was especially important to me. I really wanted to make it fun for everyone!
We already had the cute tepee, a gift given to me by a dear friend at my baby shower. I used it as the inspiration for the party. I made everyone a feather headband (using this DIY tutorial) to wear so that we all felt festive! We served brawts, sliders, texas caviar and sweet potato fries on bamboo plates. My mom and I made gingerbread moose cookies for the table and shortbread tepee cookies to take home as “camp treats.” We opened gifts and then everyone wrote a “camp note” to Sullivan… so that even though he probably won’t remember his first birthday, he can read about it one day!
A special thank you to Abigail Bobo for capturing my little munchkin and all the fun details. We’re honored that 100 Layer Cakelet featured Sullivan’s party on their adorable blog. Be sure to check it out – they have such great inspiration for mamas!
